Cafe Divis is hip. So hip. Their interior is like a cross between an MTV reality show set and the inside of an urban outfitters. I mean… they have a table made out of a street sign! And did you see the bright orange couch? Plus there’s like… a tree… growing out of the wall and stuff.
They definitely get the award for swankiest environment to work from in a 10 block radius. If you’re trying to impress out-of-towners with your trendy urban life-style this is where you’re stopping for coffee in between shopping on haight street and the picnic at alamo square.
Anyway, despite the painful levels of interior design relevancy, this place is actually pretty fantastic. They do the four barrel coffee thing, which is wonderful. They have tasty paninis and small plates and the music oscillates between pretty damn good and fantastic. They even drop fresh strawberries in their water dispenser to give your free loading beverage that extra little something.
As a final added bonus, Cafe Divis moonlights as “Vinyl Wine Bar” in the evenings. The only down-side to this is that at around 6 or 7 the place starts to feel a lot less coffee shop-y and a lot more bar-like. A small price to pay for a great cafe.
