On this sad day I found out my friend Casey passed away after months of battling a head injury he sustained from a 4 wheeler accident. He was a very good DJ. A great supporter of our old hip hop crew. Came to a lot of shows, bought the shirts, the tapes and would do anything he could to musically support us. I’d catch him spinning downtown at various venues. When we saw eachother in the crowd he was always there to give a pound and a hug. Very down to earth and had a love for hip hop and Techno like nobody i have ran into since. He had a part-time job as the house DJ at Surrey Tavern for a moment.. Where I ran into him wearing an old school SHAFT shirt. Casey will be greatly missed… It’s unfortunate that one of the reasons I’m so upset is that he was sent home from the hospital when the dr.s found out there was nothing more they could do.. and in the back of my head I know it also had to do with his insurance running out. Something has got to change with the health care system in our country. It’s not fair for anyone.. my health coverage shot up 20% this year and it sucks when you can’t even afford to place your wife and kid on the plan because it doubles. And if you’re over the age of 55.. you can go ahead and wait in lines.. lines that have been backed up for years..until there is no waiting left. I wish there was something I could do, but all I can do is show my love in the form of words, a message to everyone out there that change has to come, and that its inevitable. Rest in Peace Casey.. You’ll be missed mor than words can say or any set can express.

Monday, June 30th, 2008Skate City’s GO-SKATE DAY
Thursday, June 12th, 2008What a turn-out! The day started with a hot sun, a mini-skateshop in the back..and ton’s of skaters doing what they love all in one place. The sound system took a while to get going as far as a microphone was concerned. After creating a flyer for the skate shops distributors.. the flow of free merchandise for the product toss was over $1,000.00.
that’s about 6 decks, tons of shirts and board accessories. The kids loved it. I’m guessing everyone caught something. It was a good day for skating and a great day for the promotion of the Augusta skateboarding scene. Thanks for everyone that came out, caught something, and remembered that it’s just not about the board.. it’s a culture.
